Message
As we approach the end of the club's active driving season, it is timely to look back on this summer and fall. Most of the EOPDS events were very successful, particularly the clinics, competition and three of our social drives were very well attended. The August Social drive took place at Fiddler's Green Stables on August 8th, 2004. Eleven hitches came, and about twenty people. Drivers drove at will on the extensive groomed trails including 10 cross-country obstacles. It was a fine opportunity to practise the skills learned at the mini-clinic held in late May. Later they drove the Cones obstacle course, some many, many times. The weather was the best and the drive was followed by tempting refreshments arranged by Pam Nuth. Unfortunately due to bad weather, the social drive at Hawkridge Farm on October 17th had to be cancelled. This was disappointing news as seven hitches had committed and up to 25 people were expected to attend. Five hitches attended the drive at Rockport when drivers enjoyed the scenery and fall colours on the Thousand Islands Parkway. The clinic held at
Hawkridge Farm on September 3rd, 4th and 5th under the leadership of Kirsten
Brunner, Beaverwood Farm, Hillsborough, Ontario, was fully subscribed.
Attending the clinic were Cynthia and David Orman, Elaine Davies, Margaret
Monnelly, Rhonda and David Elliott, DJ Sproat, Tina Sully, Louise Fish
and June Pelot. Dianne Cardill travelled from St. Lazare. Sherry
Aldrige came from Gore's landing and Diane Fayle from the Elgin area.
Auditors included Mary and Ian Mulligan, Laurie Maus, Dunvegan, Ontario,
Carol Anne and Stephen Mills, who also helped enormously with the cones
courses. The weather was once again very favourable and the grounds
were professionally prepared down to the last detail. Clinics have
become very important to our active drivers.
